The state of emergency announced in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic has also affected many foreigners who reside in the Czech Republic, and has affected their rights connected with and their ability to fulfil duties related to their residence permits. Foreigners can sometimes be taken aback by this situation; they often do not know where they can find relevant information and how to deal with this situation.

The Government of the Czech Republic declared a state of emergency throughout the entire territory of the Czech Republic for 30 days as of 13 March 2020 from 14:00 followed by a nationwide quarantine announced from 16 March from 0:00 until (extended) 1 April. Preventive measures and restrictions were introduced in order to help contain the spread of the SARS CoV-2 virus, aka coronavirus, and many of them affect the lives of expats living and working within the territory of the Czech Republic. An application to suspend proceedings

Are you unable to review your case material before the issuance of a decision by the MOI? Request a suspension of the proceeding and be granted some additional time to review it and state your case after the state of emergency has been lifted. The document is in the Czech language.
